Clinton is located 70 miles southeast of Kansas City and is the seat of Henry County. Clinton’s historic courthouse square is the center of its downtown and one of the largest in the nation. Clinton is a gateway to Truman Lake, and home to the western trailhead for the Katy Trail. In addition to government services, Downtown Clinton offers unique shopping and dining and cultural attractions, such as the Henry County Museum.

The recent completion of a building on the town square to replace the collapsed Elk’s Lodge has been a source of community pride. With Clinton’s participation in the DREAM Initiative, the community hopes to build on this momentum and advance its revitalization objectives. Notable achievements to date include:

  • Completing a community way-finding plan for signs that direct traffic to downtown landmarks
  • Designing conceptual sketches for a key potential infill site on the square
