The City of Macon is located in the north-central region of Missouri and currently boasts a population of around 5,500. In 1863, the county seat was moved from Bloomington to Macon, and the historic Macon County Courthouse sits at the northern edge of the downtown area.

Macon was designated a DREAM community in the fall of 2008 and work on the task items began in 2009 with a focus on building revitalization, streetscape enhancements, and improving the mix of uses within Downtown.
