Located in Southeast Missouri, along I-55 just east of the Mississippi River, the City of Jackson is known as the “City of Beautiful Homes, Churches, Schools and Parks”. Jackson serves as the county seat of Cape Girardeau County and is a progressive city with more than 13,000 residents.

The City of Jackson was incorporated in 1814 and was the first town to bear President Andrew Jackson’s name. Jackson has a vibrant “Uptown” anchored by the courthouse square historic district and numerous specialty stores.

Selected as a DREAM community in the fall of 2010, the City of Jackson has recently been successful in completing a Comprehensive Plan, securing traffic flow improvements, and implementing streetscape improvements. The City of Jackson hopes to create a formal working group, increase historic preservation efforts, and expand their streetscape and infrastructure improvements through the DREAM Initiative.
